The idea for the UAV Icing Workshop was born from the increasing relevance of the topic of atmospheric icing for unmanned aircraft. The objective of this workshop is to provide a platform for stakeholders in science and industry to discuss the challenges and technical solutions of icing for unmanned aircraft.

  • In-flight icing
  • Ground icing
  • Atmospheric icing environments
  • Ice protection systems
  • Ice detection methods and systems
  • Simulation of icing (icing CFD)
  • Icephobic materials
  • Icing weather forecasting
  • Icing severity assessment
  • Operational challenges in cold climate environments
  • Mission and path planning
  • Certification
  • Flight testing
  • Icing wind tunnel experiments
  • Urban air mobility
  • Synergies between icing on unmanned aircraft and other fields

The event will be powered by the Norwegian University for Science and Technology (NTNU) via funds from the Norwegian Research Council.
